Most all children love to play with water in type fashion. One way for them to be “playing” with water but also learning about colors is with this eye dropper activity. I would only do this activity with two or three children at a time just so you can watch them and also help them if they need assistance.

What you need to do:

Set three cups out that are half way filled with water. Add different colors of food color to the water. Let each child use an eye dropper to drop the colored water onto a piece of paper towel. Let them see how the water evaporates, leaving the color behind.

This is an easy and fun activity for young children. You can throw away the paper towels after you are done, or if your child wants to keep it, let it dry first and give it to them. It’s an easy clean-up process as well.
