As a new mom I was looking forward to the time when I could begin feeding my son solid foods. There’s just something so cute about a baby having baby food all over his face. Well, when he turned four months old the doctor said to begin him on rice cereal. So, one morning I gave him rice cereal mixed with his formula for breakfast and he loved it. Well, an hour and a half later my son was very sick, vomiting everywhere. I called the doctor and they said it could have been a reaction but more than likely he had a virus. This is a fun activity that parents can do with their toddler and you can use some common items found in your pantry to make it.
Ingredients
3 cups of flour
1 cup salt
1 tbsp. Wesson oil
2/3 cups water
Food coloring
Mix flour and salt together. Mix food coloring with oil and water, or mix powder paint with salt and water. Add oil and water mixture gradually to flour mixture. Knead as you would dough until the mixture is smooth and easy to handle. Add more flour as needed as child plays with it.
Play dough will keep several weeks in refrigerator if placed in air tight wrapping. (plastic bag or Saran wrap)
I have made this and it does work. I did have to add flour as the children played with it to keep it from sticking to them. I also had a few tools for them to use with the play dough such as, a bottle top, a spoon, or a rolling pin. Read more …
